This is not my tongue So when I find it in my mouth I roll it around I give it a try But rarely in the public eye (I) feel uncomfortable with my second tongue Esta no es mi lengua Cuando la encuentro en mi boca Me la muerdo con los dientes Hablo lentamente Pero casi nunca con mi gente Estoy incómodo con mi segunda lengua This is not my skin But I wear it every day It was darker when skies were brighter Now it’s lighter from the gray And I’m afraid it affects how you hear what I say So uncomfortable with my second tongue Este no es mi color Y el cambio me dio dolor Cuando era más oscuro Yo estaba seguro De que los Puros podían oírme mejor Muy incómodo con mi segunda lengua No son mis lenguas, ni mi boca, ni mis labios Y no mantengo dos historias en mi voz Mostly tongue-tied, I hide the words inside my mouth Because I am afraid of how they will come out So uncomfortable con mi segunda lengua Estoy incómodo with my second tongue

I shrink away from dirt and decay, But I don’t shirk work that leads me to the fray. I dog-ear my limbs; I fold them up tight To keep what offends me always in my mind. I clench and I claw ‘til I can wash it off. My great white hope is hot water and soap. What is the thing? (The thing is the thing.) How can that be? (The thing is the thing.) What do you mean that it’s just me? Doesn’t every - body hate the dirt? Isn’t every - one afraid of germs? Doesn’t every - body have the thing? Maybe it’s me. I shrink away from too tight a space While inside I inflate for impacts I (am braced/embrace). I dog-ear my limbs; I fold them up tight To keep in the pressure that’s boiling me alive. I melt to my core ‘til I can breathe more. My only hope is an opening of doors. What is the thing? (The thing is the thing.) How can that be? (The thing is the thing.) What do you mean that it’s just me? Doesn’t everybody feel confined? Any hallway’s a collapsing mine Doesn’t everybody have the thing? Maybe it’s me. You can’t think away the laws of your brain; A flawed train of thought’s got a track it always takes. I dog-ear my limbs; it’s like pressing save To mollify my demons while I go on with my day. I twitch and I itch but I can’t switch it off. My only hope is learning how to cope With the thing. The thing… Doesn’t everybody feel the fear When you wish the world would disappear? Doesn’t everybody have the thing? Maybe it’s me.

Marlo 03:05
Marlodjur Marlo, dear, I fear Nothing I could say would Change the way you feel tonight Under cold Toronto Skies, who wouldn’t want to die At the sight of Unopened messages and Untended bandages on Wounds that ooze and itch On the surface of your existence Marlo, I just don’t know Marlodjur Marlo, dear, I fear You say you’re crumpled paper I don’t know how to save your life I don’t mean to condescend I know I can’t comprehend the Frigh-ten-ing silence of Unanswered messages and Festering bandages on Wounds that ooze and itch On the surface of your existence Marlo, I just don’t know The things you need Second chances or a second just to breathe Are beyond me, I’m just a Stranger. On your. Screen. It’s a curse, time can’t be reversed but So far, there’s always been another Tomorrow, Marlo A day to write new messages to Put on clean white bandages The itching of your skin Will be a sign that you are healing Marlo, I just hope Marlo, I just don’t know

A mighty river is bound to overflow It cannot help if its banks erode A mighty river is bound to overflow But the Earth can take it, she can bear the load That’s how it goes It’s in my nature to Sting and so we sink together and I Swear I couldn’t help myself but I Thank you for the ride You’re not the river, you’re not the undertow And you would drown if I let you go You’re not the river, you’re not the undertow You cannot ruin what you don’t control You don’t control me It’s in your nature to Sting and so we sink together and I Swear you could have saved us both but you Never even tried I know I’ll survive your scorpion’s tail with My thick skin, I’m hardly frail and I Know I will not fail I’m not a character in your cautionary tale with my free Will, I’ll free myself And leave you on this riverbed alone You’re not the river, you are not the Undertow And I will leave you on this riverbed alone

Tender Bison 04:04
I would never tell you that you’re hurting yourself, I’m Sure you’re aware that I know you know, you know I know, so what purpose Does naming it serve us? When I trust you Are more worried than I And I’m worried I would never tell you that running away from your problems is losing Flight is often the best option, when fighting will only mean bruising And I’ve got your back The tank’s full of gas So let’s go Away. The roads are the same as the songs that we play But the rain, oh oh oh oh, is a subtle reminder that Everything changes I would never tell you that you’re hurting yourself, I’m sure you’re aware that Flight is often the best option, when fighting will only mean bruising When I trust you Are more worried than I And I’m worried Okay. The roads are the same as the songs that we play But the rain, oh oh oh oh, is a subtle reminder that everything changes
